The People in United Voices

MEMBERS

The members are people with learning disabilities. They join the local groups and elect representatives to the Trust Board to direct the activities of United Voices. Altogether we have 150 members in East Berkshire.

 

TRUSTEES

In addition to Representative trustees we have Foundation trustees on the board. They  are also directors of the charitable company. Their main responsibilities are to ensure that the charity operates effectively according to its constitution and within the law. They supervise the small paid staff. VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers help with a wide variety of activities. They support members in fundraising, running meetings, attending conferences and events and using the internet. Others help with back office tasks such as maintaining the computers and communications and checking the accounts. We always need more volunteers . STAFF

There is a full-time development leader for each group to guide the members to develop the advocacy service. They provide leadership for new initiatives, support the members in their activities, advocate for members and others and  interface to local, regional and national organisations. There are two part time project leaders and an administrator A member is employed as a part time administrator for the Slough group.
